Governance Rules

The NZJTO Sector Committee of the Communications and Media ITO operates under the following rules:

Meetings
The sector committee has three meetings scheduled for 2009. It met in February and will meet again in June and October.  The management committee will meet in April, August and December.

The major outcome from these meetings is to give advice to the CEO and board of the ITO on sector- specific requirements.

Sector Responsibilities

  • Operate under Section 6a and 6c of the Industry Training Act.
  • Approve unit standards and qualifications.
  • Define parameters of workplace training programmes.
  • Define the moderation systems.
  • Define assessment and curriculum requirements for workplace training.
  • Prioritise projects from the Strategic Training Plan.
  • Provide advice on the costs of running the operations of the sector in a sustainable way, including working with the CEO to define what funding is required and how that will be raised. This is required so that the Board can approve a total budget for the operation.
  • Operate the sector in a sustainable way.
  • Define how input will be obtained from the broader sector each committee representsIndustry liaison and communication.
